Marcus Hayes opened Pulse in October 2019 with a clear thesis: Dubai had plenty of boutique studios, plenty of hotel-chain gyms, plenty of places to take a selfie in front of a mirror — and not many real gyms with real coaches and real equipment.
The space was 850 square metres in Business Bay. Day one we had eight platforms, twelve squat racks, a row of heavy bags, a turf strip and a small studio at the back. We had three coaches, two showers and one card reader. We told members on opening week: if you can't get a workout in here, the problem isn't the gym.
Six years later we've added a yoga studio, a calisthenics rig, a Concept2 row, three SkiErgs and twelve coaches. But the principle hasn't moved: real coaching, real equipment, no nonsense.
Come see the place →If everything else burned down tomorrow, these are the things we'd rebuild around.
Every coach is empowered to drop your weight or change your set if your form's off. No ego lifts. Ever.
We adapt programmes to the people in the room, not the other way round. Injury history, sleep, work stress — all of it counts.
The first time you walk in is the most important visit you'll ever make. We make it easy. No judgement, no pressure.
We invest in barbells, plates, racks, bags and turf. We don't invest in red light beds or "biohacking" gadgets.
Three good sessions a week, every week, for a year, will beat any 30-day challenge ever invented.
Members hold the door, rack their plates, cheer each other on. That's the only "vibe" we care about.
