From your first jab to your first spar — technique-led coaching from a former pro. Beginners absolutely welcome.
Boxing at Pulse is the antidote to "boxercise." We don't throw a hundred random punches to a playlist. We teach you to box — properly. Stance, weight transfer, head movement, the four punches, then the combinations that actually land in real bouts.
Tony Romero runs the boxing programme. He spent eight years competing in Mexico and now coaches both beginners and amateur competitors. The first time you walk in, he'll teach you how to stand — and you'll probably be surprised how technical that is. By session three you'll be throwing combinations on the pads with him.
We don't force sparring on anyone. Open sparring runs Saturday mornings for those who want it, with strict pairing rules so you only ever spar at your level. Most members never need to spar to get fitter than they've ever been.
Three rounds of rope, shadow drills, dynamic warm-up. Get loose, get focused.
Drill of the day: a punch, a defensive move or a combination. Slow reps before fast reps.
Partnered pads (alternating), then heavy bag rounds. Tony walks the floor and corrects.
Boxer's abs — circuits, planks, stretches. Walk out lighter than you walked in.
Eight years competing in Mexico's amateur welterweight scene before moving to Dubai in 2020. Tony's calm, technical and obsessed with footwork. He's coached two members from never-thrown-a-punch to amateur bouts, and he runs every class like a private lesson — cueing, correcting, walking the floor.
